The large, easy-to-read color LED display is designed
to operate with all of the SCSI-2 and ESCON attached 3590 configurations
that have been announced by IBM, including the 3494 and 3495 Tape
Library Dataservers. 3590 Display Units are attached to the
IBM 3590 drives via a TDS 9905 Display Controller that is physically
housed within the drive frame box or rack. Display mounting
kits for each 3590 configuration have been designed for quick, simple
field installation by IBM personnel.
The TDS 3590 Display System is comprised of TDS 3590 Display Unit,
9905 Display Controller, mounting base and arm assembly, and interconnecting
cables. The 3590 Display Unit is the same model for all 3590
configurations, and the remaining components are particular to each
type of 3590 in use. The 3590 Display System can be easily
and inexpensively modified in the field from one 3590 use to another
(from a rack mount configuration to a 3494 configuration, for example).
